Plato once said, “Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” Sadly, we live in a world in which books are taking a backseat to technology. Students are missing out because reading provides many benefits such as building both critical thinking skills and complex vocabulary. Unfortunately, many students avoid reading because they cannot find literature that they are able to relate to. The novel Refugee by Alan Gratz will provide students with a topic that they are able to relate to and will hopefully build a love for reading!
