“Hands” on experience! Learning about instruments, and rhythm is great, but nothing can replace the knowledge gained by actually learning how to play the the instrument. In addition to the experience of making sounds,and learning the techniques of playing the instrument, students learn to work together cooperatively. Pride in the ability to perform as a group, will carry on into other areas of their education. Research has proven that learning to play an instrument is one of the only activities that uses the entire brain at once, and it will help the students to improve their abilities in other subjects. I would like to add some recorders, ukuleles, and percussion instruments, such as tubanos to create an opportunity for the students to perform as a group. Lely Elementary School is lacking in music equipment. This is my first year at Lely. I have been teaching music for over 25 years.
