Our media center has been in dire need of a refresh for a long time. We had teacher volunteers come in and paint the space, and decorate the walls. The furniture is old, creaky, and just plain uncomfortable. The media center should be a destination on campus, and our students don't like to go because the furniture is not very accommodating to their comfort or learning needs. Providing tables that are flexible to students needs and allow the students to manipulate their environment will provide an opportunity for students to be better engaged and productive. Providing a space that is inviting for students will encourage them to come to a place where they are free to learn and explore their interests to their fullest abilities.
