I want to bring books to our community to promote discussion and understanding around issues that students may be feeling or experiencing. These picture books represent the vast array of themes to help students understand themselves and others. Sharing a picture book has the ability to open new doors for readers of all ages by providing a dedicated time to sit, listen, and enjoy a story. I am excited to see students, teachers, and families share these books. In addition to having great books for students on our shelves, another goal is to enhance read loud resources for teachers. When teachers read, students listen, and when students can see their teacher responding passionately, they too will share those feelings. These amazing stories will provide students opportunities to discuss and understand feelings, friendships, cultures and global issues. They have the opportunity to reflect about themselves and understand other perspectives.
