My students are expected to learn all of the basics of art through many mediums. One way of teaching the elements and principles of design is through textile art, more specifically weaving. The yarn and the needles I am requesting will serve over a hundred students, teaching them a new skill they do not yet possess, and as well it will tie in with the shape unit I will be covering. These supplies will give them a new skill that they could very well carry on into their adult life, creating revenue for them in the future. It also affords them problem-solving skills, challenging student's dexterity, as well as hand-eye coordination when in the throws of a weaving project. These skills are vital in creating a well-rounded student and positive asset to our community down the road when they become adults. And it is all because they learned a skill like weaving.
