When the boxes arrived, their excitement was contagious—they immediately wanted to dive into the new books and explore the rekenreks. \r\n\r\nThe rekenreks have quickly become a favorite math tool in our classroom. During a recent lesson on building number combinations, I watched my students light up as they slid the beads back and forth, suddenly making connections that had seemed so abstract before. One child who often struggled with math proudly reaches for his rekenrek now with joy. \r\n\r\nEven the tissues—small but essential—have made a noticeable impact. We're able to keep our learning space clean and healthy, which allows students to stay focused and comfortable while we learn together.\r\n\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students will continue using the rekenreks as we build toward addition and subtraction fluency, and the books will be woven into our literacy lessons and social-emotional learning discussions. They breathe in when moving their finger along the path on the board and out when they go down. The students were excited to have new, working headphones to help with their learning. \r\n\r\nWe have already begun using the composition books and every student is excited to have their own eraser on top of their sharpened pencil. Some students had run out of pages in their composition book, so the new books allowed for clean, fresh pages. Students also have a tendency not to use pencils without erasers, so the erasers and pencil top erasers increased the longevity of their pencils instead of throwing them away. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your support and help to restock my classroom!
