Middle school students learn the molecular structure of water and how important this natural resource is to our planet and our human survival. Students get to learn about many locations around our planet that are in water crisis, and then create and design solutions to share, to make the environment safe for us all. Not all students get to access science content for different reasons such as learning disabilities, social disadvantages, and many different languages spoken at home that leave language barriers to overcome. For this reason, I know that having a colorful model of atoms will make the atomic structure of water molecules a tangible and tactile learning tool for each and every student that has access to it. Students can take turns building a variety of chemical elements, can try to make as many as possible in a given amount of time, compete with their friends or help each with peer learning and generally make learning fun.
