It's time to use the skills we have gained. The students are learning basic rhythms and note naming. We need to apply these skills in a practical manner. Learning to play the recorder will give my students the ability to apply the theory skills they have acquired. As we practice the recorders, students will gain the skill of being part of a musical group. They will learn to play the same tempo, rhythm and notes as the group. They will learn to listen to their fellow musicians and realize that working together is amazing. Being part of a recorder band will give many students a chance to be part of something bigger than themselves and shine as a group.
