3rd grade students do not sit still! Elementary school is not meant for lecture style learning. I am working toward creating a complete classroom with flexible seating. "Minds are like parachutes, they only function when open." This is a quote that supports my classroom environment. Flexible seating will help my students open their minds as they are able to move, choose, and collaborate in a comfortable environment. It encourages students to take charge of their learning. Additionally, the seating allows for an increased sense of community, sharing, and caring. My students are loving the steps we have taken toward flexible seating and would be benefited by added furniture to our room.
