The umbrellas I am asking for will provide students in multiple fitness walking classes more opportunities to get outside and exercise in their community. Walking is the most popular physical activity, but Washington state is considered one of the rainiest states. These umbrellas will help students stay dry, healthy and active during especially rainy seasons! Fitness walking is proven to decrease risk for diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and even lowers the risk of depression and anxiety, but not all students have access to weather proof clothing/equipment. By providing students with umbrellas to use in the rainy Washington area, more students will have access to the most popular form of physical activity, which increases the likelihood of students continuing with fitness activities outside of the classroom and after high school, decreases their risk for diseases and increases student social interaction.
