Our middle school team would like to inspire our young writers by having them hear about the writing process first-hand from a successful author. The writing process is complicated, even for an experienced author. Our students need to hear that, and gain confidence to realize that several drafts are often necessary to make a piece stronger. Our middle school is also celebrating the theme of PERSEVERANCE during our second quarter, and we feel this author visit will help them make connections between perseverance and success. The protagonists in the book we plan to read ahead of Mr. Tebbetts' visit also need to persevere through struggles, so students will have multiple examples of perseverance and its reward throughout the experience. We hope to grow confident writers who have grit!
