In my SPED classroom, many of my students get distracted very easily. This obstacle makes it hard for several of my students to finish independent reading assignments. Our students are encouraged to work on literacy skills everyday, but sometimes noise distractions makes it hard for them to concentrate. Additionally, some students opt for the audio of a book to be played while they read. In my classroom there will often be five different audio books playing at a single time, which makes it extremely difficult for my other students who do not use the audio to concentrate. I believe that noise reducing headphones will help my student's literacy immensely. Without the distraction of outside noises, they will be able to concentrate on their own books and develop stronger vocabulary and comprehension.
