By incorporating flexible seating in the high school classroom, students have been known to exhibit less anxiety. It is in this type of environment, the students are given the opportunity to choose their own seats. Having a variety of seating allows teachers to meet the individual needs of each student. Traditional furniture in classrooms is built for one-size-fits-all. However, each student in the classroom is unique. One way of differentiating these needs is by providing various sizes of desks and tables, as well as, alternative seating to choose from. When students have the opportunity to make choices in the educational process, they take ownership of their learning.
