The addition of two stand up desks to my classroom would be a game changer for my students. No student is the same. Many of my students need to wiggle and stand as they learn. There are always two or three students who wish to stand up on a daily basis. They're turning into hunchbacks! It's difficult to stand and bend down to write. It's also hard to engage in hands on activities and cooperative learning when a student is hunched over their desk. In addition to being comfortable, I want my students to be comfortable being themselves. I want them to know that it's ok to need to wiggle or stand up. I also want them to be productive and successful. Having a stand up desk or two would do just that.
