A person should never underestimate the power of a book, the excitement it can awaken, the imagination it can spark, the family bonding it can create or solidify that much more, the way a new book feels when you peel the pages apart for the first time or the difference in how a new and old book smell when you turn the pages, both intoxicating in their own endearing ways. Reading a physical book is so overshadowed by technology, and that’s not to say technology is unimportant, but we tend to forget these simple beauties, these simple bits of excitement. A library should be a place that tempts the mind, lures in the curiosity of a mind, gives super knowledge and powers to the brain, makes someone wonder, to think, sparks interests, create foundations and the ability to find reliability when a fellow human can’t, to make a person not feel alone or to make a shared group of readers laugh aloud.
