Our \"Science Sizzles in Kindergarten\" was an enormous hit. The day the big black box arrived was full of anticipation. The kids wanted to know what was in the box and the \"oohs\" and \"aahs\" were resonating when we got the materials out.\r\n\r\nThe deep questioning they had when we got to set the ping ping balls on the track and the discussion that ensued as to how we would get the balls to move with touching them was fascinating to listen to. The many experiments opened up deep conversations and enlightened many student's curiosity as to how forces such as push, pull, and gravity work.\r\n\r\nAfter many exciting days of Force and Motion, we headed outside to begin our Sun: Our Nearest Star unit. The glee emanating from the children as they grasped their solar beads, not knowing what they were, and making a hypothesis as to what would happen to them (\"I think they will melt\" - was a favorite response). We tested the temperature with our new thermometers, and they were surprised that it is not a million degrees outside! \r\n\r\nThese wonderful new tools will continue to impact my future students.
