We need a buddy bench for our Kindergarten yard to help promote friendship and eliminate loneliness. Often times our Kindergarten students come into school without knowing any other students. Those first few days at a new school can be nerve racking for students of all ages but especially our youngest students. The buddy bench will provide a place for students to go when they are feeling lonely or looking for a playmate. The buddy bench will work to promote the physical and emotional health and wellness of the students. Often times students come up to me and tell me they have no one to play with. The buddy bench will allow students a place to go when they are feeling lonely and when other students see a student on the bench they will know to ask the other student to play. I feel the addition of the buddy bench to our Kindergarten yard will not only help eliminate loneliness but also foster the feeling of inclusion and acceptance among all students.
