We are a community of diverse learners always ready to learn and play. My students are from Bernal Heights, the Excelsior, Bayview Hunter's Point and Visitation Valley. Some are San Francisco natives while others are from immigrant families: most have attended preschool. When you walk into our classroom you are greeted with colorful student work and art. But our classroom library needs multiple copies of favorite books in Spanish. As a dual Spanish Immersion class, we also need books in English. Likewise, our block area is pretty plain, and we want to add interest to the existing wooden blocks and Duplo's. A wooden train set would increase interest in building with blocks. Not to mention aid in using their creativity and imagination. We are on our way to start reading and need individual book binds and a portable bookshelf to support each students' books.
