My students have access to an engaging, adapted literacy curriculum that requires specific texts for read alouds. All of my special education students have reading standards based goals in order to ensure that they are accessing grade level material. My kids love books and literacy is my absolute favorite thing to teach! These books will allow the continued love for reading and the opportunity to access a curriculum made for them. My students also deserve a classroom that is comfortable and feels safe. I am grateful that I have a huge classroom with plenty of room for my students' equipment and needs, but it does have a concrete floor. In order for my students to get out of their wheelchairs and into different types of equipment, I need plenty of rug space for safety and comfort.
