Flexible seating allows students to feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating lets students choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. These yoga balls will allow my students to be more engaged during our reading small group time. It will also give them some motivation to participate in our reading lesson. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. These different seating options help keep young minds more alert and focused. Children just like adults need to move and feel comfortable. Flexible seating is also linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
