My students are performing tasks that mimic real life scenarios including micro-assays, forensic anthropology, pathology, microbiology, crime scene investigation, urinalysis, and learning how to stitch a wound. The labs and activities they perform generate a high level of engagement and interest in the fields of health and medicine. I would like to take this interest to the next level by making their experiences as real as possible in a high school classroom. Professional dress is an important aspect of a career and lab coats will help my students fully immerse themselves in the medical experiences they are given in class. Every medical professional depicted is wearing lab coats or professional attire and I believe it is important to give students the opportunity to see themselves in their desired role. The more readily they can see themselves as a future medical professional, the more likely they are to continue their education and work to achieve their goal.
