My student's favorite literacy center is our classroom library. Teaching in a Spanish Dual Immersion setting can be difficult when it comes to finding resources in the targeted language. Finding books in Spanish is another challenge, especially books that grab their attention. By having a variety of books in Spanish, my students can continue their journey toward bilingualism. My students love reading and by having these books, my students can continue reading in Spanish and grow as readers. I can already picture them holding one of the books, their heart full of excitement and finding a comfortable place to sit down and read. Our goal is for our students to finish the program being bilingual, in Spanish and English. By having the resources in Spanish, I can expose my students to books that they enjoy reading and continue to practice their Spanish reading. We strive for bilingualism in each and everyone of our children but it can be difficult because we do not have as much books in Spanish. By having these books, my students will have more options of books that they can read and it will enrich our classroom library.
