First grade is a very important year in a child’s life, it’s where many of their likes and dislikes begin. It is when many of the foundational building blocks that will be used throughout a child’s life are laid and when many students decide whether or not they will love or hate a subject. First grade can make or break a student's love for reading. For some children, first grade is when they learn to love reading. Others can grow intimidated of reading at this age and this dislike may persist for many years or even forever. I want to help foster a love for reading in all of my students so that they not only enjoy reading, but they continue to do so throughout their entire lives. Creating a comfortable classroom library will help foster a love for reading in my students and will make reading a more enjoyable experience. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them a comfortable place to read. The comfy carpet and floor seats will allow my students to grow a love for reading in an enjoyable environment and encourage them to visit our classroom library more often. The vivid colors of the carpet and seats will additionally add a welcoming environment to the classroom. Lastly, the book bins will allow me to better organize our classroom library so that students can more easily see which books are available to them and they can also access the books with more ease.
