Instead of giving my students morning work that is on paper, I would love to be give them morning work that is hands on, collaborative, builds upon cognitive and social skills and gives them the motivation to start their day the moment they walk into the classroom! My students love to create and just spend time with one another. I have found that some of students that come into my classroom, do not have good relationships elsewhere and look to school as a place to be someone who is cared about. These materials will help connect them together and give them purpose, because they will know they will have to work together to complete a project and take turns with the materials each day. Which is hard for some of them, because they like things to be the same each day. Although we all know life does not make things the same each day. Each day will bring something new to learn.
