I would like to purchase 2 Silhouette Cameo cutting machines and supplies to add to the library makerspace. Students will be able to create a design on the computer and cut their design out on vinyl or cardstock using the Silhouette Cameo. Students will be encouraged to collaborate with others as they form their designs and safely help one another as they use the machines. If a student's design rips or does not turn out as planned, they are encouraged to reflect and try again. Feeling successful will help student's social and emotional needs as they return from the "pandemic year". As students participate in hands-on projects in the library makerspace, I want them to develop a growth mindset where errors are not seen as failures but as opportunities to make modifications and refinements to create something even more amazing! I plan to use the Silhouette Cameo machines with small groups and individual students in the library makerspace as well as with classes that come in for library lessons. This project also promotes equity as the equipment will be housed in the library where every student has access and is welcomed and nurtured.
