Creating a sense of community in my classroom is crucial. I want students walking into my classroom feeling safe, loved, & eager to participate. Every child has a different story at home. Some may not have parents who are there at night to make them supper & tuck them into bed. I want my classroom to be their "happy place". I want them to be able to share whatever is on their mind and feel they are being listened to. This gathering space will help us create a sense of "family" and "community". Instead of students sitting at their desks, this will let us gather together and feel comfortable while sharing & learning.
