All of my students come from different ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. It is my teaching philosophy that students should always see themselves reflected in their classroom and in the materials they are expected to learn from. Students produce better work and have a better connection to their learning when they can personally relate to the learning materials. It is my personal goal that my students will find a deeper love for reading when they are given the opportunity to read about characters that resemble their own lives. I would like for my students to be able to interact with these books written by people of different backgrounds, about people from diverse backgrounds. I want my students to get excited about reading, and to learn to have a passion for reading . I am confident that by you donating this library to my class of young, emerging learners that you will help my students with an opportunity to see themselves reflected through literature in a positive fun and uplifting light.
