Do you remember when you watched, listened to or read something that completely changed you and captivated your mind? And after that you yearned to see, listen or read more frequently because it was exciting and intriguing. Well that's what texts can do for children, especially the primary grade levels. Providing a diverse and interdisciplinary library to my first graders will unlock their minds to build a strong and solid foundation for reading. These books will impact more than just this school year but for years to come because they'll build on their foundational skills forever. If they have exposure to as much as possible as early as possible, they'll be more inclined to be on a level playing field with their global counterparts. Lastly, books are responsible for exemplifying and teaching many readers about life, reading, writing and things of the world.
