K2 is the grade where children build foundation reading skills such as decoding tricky words! I want to make sure that my students have new books in the library that they can get excited about and try out the new skills they are learning in school! My goal is to create a library similar to the ones in their communities. I want to have books in different languages, culturally sensitive books, books that teach them things, books that they can laugh about, and most importantly books that they fall in love with! Building my classroom library will also help the families in my classroom reach the goal of reading for 20 minutes every night! The goal is for children to not only be reading in school but also at home with their loved ones so that they get excited about reading!
