These foundational skills are essential for meeting classroom demands like sitting for extended periods, planning and sequencing tasks, and independently managing materials throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were so excited and curious. As I demonstrated how we'd use them, they jumped right in with smiles and laughter. It's been amazing to see them so engaged and motivated while working on skills that directly support their success in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThese tools have also given me new ways to plan creative, meaningful sessions tailored to each student's unique needs. Play is such a key part of development, and these skills are so important for success with school activities. Since getting the new resources, we've been using them as part of our warm-up before moving into paper-based tasks—often tying them into the theme of the day (like animals or food). This has made OT sessions more fun and exciting for the kids can also serve as a motivator, as they know they'll have the opportunity to play again at the end of the session. Little do they realize, they're continuing to work on those underlying developmental skills throughout, such as hand strength, crossing the midline, precision, and dexterity!\r\n\r\nMy students have been thrilled to explore and use these new resources. At the end of our OT sessions, I've had students enthusiastically ask, \"Time for choice?\"—a sign that they're motivated to engage with materials they've worked hard to earn, while also unknowingly targeting essential foundational skills. One of my students, who communicates using an AAC device, signed \"more\" when using a toy designed to support his motor planning and muscle endurance! These resources have truly been a blessing for both skill acquisition and student engagement. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are so grateful for the support you've given us. However, I do not want them to lose their first language, and I also want to encourage their interest in reading. \r\n\r\nWith this project, I was able to purchase high interest texts in Spanish which we can then pair with the English version from our school library.
