Our school started out with all new band equipment, but over time, things need to be replaced. Band equipment, including percussion, is pricey, but thankfully lasts many years if cared for. We are in need of a new drum set, and this is the first project that will hopefully make that happen. This drum set will be used daily in class, and we also use it for jazz and marching band performances. My students will be excited for the addition of this equipment. Having an up to date drum set is one way to respect the diversity of my students. My students are unique both as individuals and as musicians, and have a variety of musical tastes. Having diverse equipment allows them to see themselves as a part of a different musical genres and ultimately increases their musicality.
