My students need more opportunities to actively engage with their language arts materials. Students currently have approximately three feet of white board space through which they love any opportunity to work on. Being that there are more than 20 students within each learning block, it is difficult to provide ample space for all students to showcase their abilities and thoughts at one time - often resulting in only momentary opportunities for students to keep their work/thoughts displayed during a given class period and/or groups resorting to working with paper and pencil at a desk with no way to show their thinking to their peers all at once. By funding this project, students will be able to work both individually and cooperatively to create charts and graphs that analyze text evidence, dissect sentence structures, and showcase their thoughts/writing among many other things. The addition of extra white board space will not only expand the usable and workable space available in the classroom, but it will also help to expand students' growing minds! Many studies have shown that when students can see and feel that their work is validated, they will be more motivated to continue engaging in the learning ahead.
