Journal writing is a dying art especially in teenagers. Why express your feelings personally when you can keep them inside, or even better, you can express them over social media such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook so everyone can see? I have noticed that the students I have no longer express their emotions effectively through speech, but rather through social media, or even worse, bottling it up until they explode. In my speech classes, the students will be given opportunities to express themselves through writing in their journals every single day. It is another way of communication, and I want to help promote healthy communication with others through public speaking, and more importantly with themselves through daily journal writing.

About my class
