Teaching in a highly transient district means the class that starts the school year with me will not be the class that ends the school year with me. One thing I want to be consistent is classroom routines and procedures. When students know what to expect it cuts down on explanations and allows for more instructional time. Having durable storage with clear bins allows students to access the best manipulatives they need for math, use the manipulatives as needed, and return them to the correct location. Students can chose from base ten blocks, unifix cubes, 120 charts, counters, etc. Having materials within their reach gives them more control of their learning. When you help me store, you help them soar.
