It is fundamental that my students learn their multiplication facts in third grade. It is the base of many more math concepts students will learn in later years. Having flash cards and using the foam dice to create multiplication problems will help engage students at home. Place value will also be taught at the beginning of the year and the base ten blocks are an easy way for students to build a number to demonstrate understanding of the number. Knowing your thousands hundreds tens and ones is a key concept.
