These students are experiencing art from a licensed art teacher for the first time. My school is in the 4th year of being open. Due to the newness of both the school and the art program, the students are very limited on the supplies they can learn about and use. These tempra cakes will allow them to experience painting with a medium they have probably never used. The school is currently at K-5th, adding additional grades and classes with each school year. I am currently working on laying down the foundations of art through the elements of art. The students are currently limited to art supplies such as pencils, markers, crayons, and colored pencils. Adding tempra cakes will allow for not only an additional medium but added techniques of painting and even color mixture. Painting provides vital and interesting learning opportunities for students to explore and learn about art. Tempra cakes are an excellent painting product for these set of students because I am currently visiting each classroom from a cart. The ease of use for these items will help tremendously.
