Using Crayola markers, students were able to experiment with layering and shading techniques to bring their jungle scenes to life—lush leaves, wild animals, bold flowers, and dense rainforests filled their artwork. Sharpie markers added contrast, definition, and detail, allowing older students to explore contour lines, intricate designs, and bold outlines that elevated their compositions.\r\n\r\nKindergarten students learned to draw chameleons using their sharpie markers. Afterwards, they colored them with Crayola markers and then turned the ink into paint by using a wet brush to hydrate the ink and spread it like paint. 1st and 2nd grade used the same technique but while learning to draw Red-eyed Tree Frogs and Caiman. \r\n\r\nUpper Elementary artist created Jungle Jaguars peeking through foliage. They created bold folk art patterns with the Sharpies and created colorful and vibrate jaguars with the Crayola Markers. \r\n\r\nMiddle school students created a whole jungle ecosystems. They created one-point perspective of a river with a canoe in the foreground. They created foliage and animals floating in the river and lining the edges of the river. \r\n\r\nThe project sparked curiosity and excitement, as students learned about rainforest ecosystems while expressing their ideas through art. For many students, it was their first time using permanent markers in a structured artistic way, and they took great pride in the responsibility and care involved.\r\n\r\nBecause of this donation, over 500 students had access to the right tools to create vibrant, meaningful work. These projects are now proudly displayed throughout the school, bringing color, conversation, and a sense of accomplishment to our entire community.
