Students in my classroom, can see the space we have reading but we do not have tools or flexible seating in our class to grow our love of reading. For example, we need more bookshelves and books so that every leader can read a book they can comprehend without being frustrated if the book is not available. By having more books for students to access they will be able to have small book clubs and stronger comprehension discussions that lead to life lessons as well as creative spaces to develop our own stories. By having bookshelves with books on every students reading level all students will have access to grow in their understanding as well as love of reading comprehension. Students want to read but as of now do not have any enough books for each students to have access and take home to read. We are not only the heart of South LA, but at my school we believe we are teaching the future of South LA and without adequate reading books we will lack a strong fundamental skill needed to survive in the world. Thank you!
