Flexible seating allows students to make a choice where they work during independent work time. This allows them to take ownership of their learning and recognize what their needs are to be successful. My students are more engaged when they are given an option where to work. I'm hoping to provide them with stability balls, kick bands, a computer chair, light filters, a door bell to get students attention, sign holders for clear instructions, an ottoman for seating and storage, and a new rug to curl up with a good book on. Students who feel more comfortable in their work environment will be able to work to their full potential. I've seen how flexible seating can improve student work habits and hope to provide these new work areas for my students.
