Our principal's vision for our school is to have a successful drama program that will allow students to thrive on stage. I am highly motivated to make sure all students increase their self-confidence. The fine arts help the students perform better in core subjects like math, science, and English. This equipment will help us to have complete rehearsals. Now we have to wait on our local theater to finish with their performances and allow us to borrow their equipment, which is limited to stage props only. Our local fire department and local churches have been wonderful in letting us use their microphones for our productions last year. With our own theater equipment, we can increase our productivity in our play rehearsals. The first rehearsal date will be full rehearsal instead of students having to wait until three days before the show to use borrowed equipment to practice a complete show. We have an enthusiastic stage and tech crew who work very hard but are unable to practice setting up actual lights and manipulating the lights until the very last minute. This causes so much stress. But with our own equipment, this stress would be avoided. And they would become "Masters of Backstage" as they call themselves. Our first production for this school year will be December 20th, "A Charlie Brown Christmas” for our school, local elementary schools and the community. Our second performance will be an African American Heritage Program, and "The Wizard of Oz meets The Wiz" as our Spring Finale. They are so excited. Their very own theater equipment would be an awesome way to begin this school year.
