Currently my students have been taking photos with their cell phones. This has recently become more of a problem with a new school policy banning cell phones during the school day, which means students can't document school events and shoot photos during the school day--exactly what they need to do for a journalism class. My student photographers will get a chance to practice "real photography" with this professional camera and create eye-catching photos for our currently lackluster online school newspaper. We hope to transform the layout to focus on drawing in readers with provocative photos and a colorful layout, taking advantage of the new online platform and playing to our student-readers' demands and interests.
