Because of your generosity, we now have five scientific calculators that students can check out, as well as whiteboards for collaborative and independent practice in our Family Resource Center (FRC).\r\n\r\nMany of our students don't have access to these resources at home, so having a quiet, well-equipped space where they can work through problems—either on their own or with peers—has been a game changer. With the calculators, students can focus on understanding math concepts instead of getting stuck on long calculations. And with the whiteboards, they can write, revise, and visually map out their thinking without fear of \"messing up.\"\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most is having access to real tools—tools they associate with \"serious\" math. They feel empowered. One student told me, \"It helps me actually want to practice. I can try stuff out and not be afraid to make mistakes.\"\r\n\r\nSeveral students who used to shy away from math have been coming into the FRC during lunch or after school to work on homework or prep for tests. It's been amazing to see how a few simple tools have sparked a shift in confidence and motivation.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us create a supportive and resource-rich learning space. Since it is housed in our private room—where students also check out loaner uniform pieces—it allows them to grab what they need without drawing attention. Many students have quietly taken advantage of the Care Cart, picking up items like deodorant, toothbrushes, or hairbrushes without hesitation. One particularly impactful moment was when a student, who initially asked if we had a brush, later returned and discreetly took a few other items. They expressed appreciation, sharing that they didn't always have these products at home and felt more confident having them on hand.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions varied from curiosity to quiet relief. Some immediately asked if they could take what they needed, while others took mental notes and returned later. We've noticed that simply knowing these items are available has encouraged students to be more proactive about their hygiene needs. Moving forward, we hope to continue restocking the Care Cart and ensuring it remains a consistent, judgment-free resource. As part of our broader efforts to support students and their well-being, we'll continue fostering a school environment where students feel cared for and supported beyond academics.","fullyFundedDate":1733878434864,"projectUrl":"project/hmsa-care-cart/8996185/","projectTitle":"HMSA Care Cart","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Maranto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9868281_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761079318578","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hmsafrc"},{"teacherId":8185876,"projectId":8833145,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations!
