Chromebooks help my special education students showing their learning through a variety of modalities including: Google Slides, Kahoots, Pear Decks, and research projects. My students commonly have projects that require them to make a Google Slide or make their own Kahoot to test their peers about the curriculum they are learning. These projects are difficult if each student does not have a Chromebook. I currently have four Chromebooks that just died. My students love using technology to learn and I feel that it helps them further understand the curriculum. Their disabilities make it so that they need other modalities to show their learning. For example, students just completed an anticipatory Google Slides project for the short story "The Birds". Students picked a bird from the short story to present about in a Google Slides to the class. Not only are students learning about the birds they will read about, but they are also working on their public speaking skills. This for special education translates into also learning an essential life skill. I hope that we can continue to use more technology in the classroom, so students can show their learning in a variety of ways.
