Because of the challenges that my students face with their disability, I would love for them to have some materials and curriculum in class that teaches them coping strategies on how to keep their bodies in the "green zone" or regulated. Most of the curriculum that is being taught around this very important topic is teacher created. There are many books that could help my students better understand the emotions that their bodies feel when they start to escalate. The Lakeshore Social Emotional Development bundle, will provide our class with books and tools that will help my students better understand how to cope with their own emotions by learning through others. Books like, "What would Danny Do", and "The Mindful Dragon" give students great examples of how to regulate their emotions. These students need regular breaks throughout their day to 'reset', and some quiet and creative building materials could motivate them to continue with their school day in a positive way. In addition, there are three different grade levels within my classroom, making it challenging to find items that motivate all ages. My students have created a list of quiet activities, such as Magnetiles, that they would love to see in our classroom for their break time.
