The students were eager to learn about current events and were motivated to retain what they learned.\r\n We use Scholastic News each week in small groups. I have parents who come in and help read with students as well. We have learned how to look for titles, subtitles, maps, vocabulary words and other text features as we read. We are also constantly working on our reading comprehension by answering the questions at the end of each issue.\r\n I am so thankful that Scholastic News was given to our classroom by all the amazing donors who contributed. I love keeping the reading spark alive using real world events and grade- level appropriate non-fiction reading. My students have commented on how much they love using Scholastic News in our classroom too!
