Technology has made a very powerful and positive impact on students success academically, especially for students with special needs. iPads have been used to help non-verbal students communicate as well as enhance their skills academically. An iPad and protective case, will provide endless opportunities for my students to interact with their teachers during group lessons and one-to-one instructional time. An iPad will also provide endless opportunities for my students to interact with their peers socially. Many of my students have poor fine motor skills and struggle with using a mouse. Having a classroom iPad, will not only benefit my classroom for communication purposes, but will also provide access for my students to enhance their academic skills through their fingertips. My students will be able to have access to educational websites suggested by our school, in order to improve their skills. Some examples of these skills are number/word identification, counting, reading, and building on vocabulary. An iPad will not only enhance the learning environment in my classroom, but will bridge the gap for my students to enhance their academics.
