The Discovery Weather Kit and the Gear Building Kit, will both be used to help enrich our Science/Math curriculum. Students will be taught a science and/or Math topic and then given the opportunity to use the materials with a partner in a Workstation. In these workstations, students are given clear instructions on how to use the materials correctly and what the expectations for that Workstation will be. When students are engaged, involved and active participants, they take ownership of their learning. These hands-on manipulatives allow students to display their comprehension of a topic without the use of traditional pencil/paper worksheets. The use of workstations allows me to assess their understanding while allowing them the opportunity to "play" while learning.
