Coming from an area in Las Vegas that has a high poverty rate our school provides students with the license to use reading programs; however, we are not provided with the technology to access these programs at our convenience. My students are emerging readers with various backgrounds that impose challenges on them to become fluent in the English language. My students need additional supports provided by these reading and language programs to help them become fluent readers. Tablets in our classroom will allow students the opportunity to access language and reading programs as needed. Currently there are only two computers in my classroom that are shared amongst seventeen students. This makes it almost impossible for students to practice their reading skills on a daily basis. Please consider helping my students achieve the daily practice they need to be able to tackle the texts they are reading.
