Every student is going to have a bad day, many will have a lot of bad days. What truly helps is having people around you to help lift you up. Being kind to someone is amazingly powerful and can help someone turn their day around in an instant. Moreover, it is so important to be inclusive. Making ALL people feel part of your class, circle, or group can be life changing. The book, "Wonder" by RJ Palacio teaches about the importance of being kind. The story shows readers that it is not OK to mock or make fun of someone because they are different. But, it happens! Wonder, shows what it is like to be made fun of and how important it is to have friends around you and in your corner to stand up for you. By helping me purchase a class set of "Wonder" I will be able to provide years and years of experience teaching kindness. My students will learn about "choosing kind" over everything else. They will be exposed to a text that will help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. This book can be life changing, and I need your help getting there.
