When my daughter received this "toy" for her fourth birthday, I was skeptical to say the least! How could someone that young learn to code. Boy was I wrong! I quickly learned that coding is not just for computer programmers with a PhD, but can also be appropriate for even the youngest of learners! I am excited to share my daughter's instant love of coding basics with the Kindergarten and first grade students in my school. The Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Sets, which introduce coding concepts, will add to a wonderful first experience with coding. My students will simply use the toy segments to create various versions of the maze. They can keep rearranging the parts, making the robot mouse behave differently with each iteration. The child has instant feedback with light, sound and motion, all which are highly motivating to them. Teaching concepts such as direction, cause and effect, and trial and error, my youngest students will code without even knowing they are doing it! If the mouse doesn't "get the cheese" as the child expected, he or she can learn from their mistakes and rearrange the grid, walls, and tunnel pieces and try again, and again, and again!
